What is After Hours 3OOO?
After Hours 3OOO is an evening track racing event held under the lights at Maitland Athletics Centre. It's a 3OOOm race (7.5 laps of a 4OOm track), run in seeded heats with a trackside DJ and recovery zones. Whether you're chasing a PB or experiencing track racing for the first time, this event is for you.
When and where is the event?
Saturday 25 July 2026, 6:00pm–9:00pm at Maitland Athletics Centre, Maitland NSW.
Is this event suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. If you can run 3OOOm — even with walk breaks — you're ready to race. The atmosphere, lights, and music make it a great first track experience, and seeded heats mean you'll always be racing people at a similar level.
What does "seeded heats" mean?
When you register you'll provide an estimated finish time, and we group runners of similar ability together. Don't stress if you're unsure — just give your best guess and we'll place you appropriately.
What's the 3000m distance like?
7.5 x 4OOm laps of energy and speed. Most beginners complete it in 12–20 minutes. For competitive runners, it's a classic middle-distance event that rewards both speed and endurance.
How do I estimate my finish time when registering?
If you've run a 5km before, roughly halve that time and add a minute or two. If you've never raced, register for the >15:OO heat. When in doubt, go conservative.
Will my finish time be officially recorded?
Yes — timing is captured using Race Clocker software paired with a finish line camera, so your result will be accurate and official. Results will be published after the event.
Do I have to wear spikes?
Running shoes are required on the track. Spikes are encouraged but not necessary.
Can I bring friends and family to watch?
Yes, spectators are welcome After Hours atmosphere is electric, there is something for everyone.
